About US

The official name of the church is Good News Baptist Church. We are affiliated with Gwinnett
Metro Baptist, Georgia Baptist Convention, and Southern Baptist Convention

The Sovereign Lord has anointed us to serve, equip, and transform a community that resembles Christ.

“1 The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,

2
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,

3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.

Isaiah 61:1-3

Our Beliefs

The Bible

We believe that the Holy Bible is the Word of God. We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the
Scriptures (Old and New Testaments) and that “all Scripture is given by inspiration of God”. It is infallible,
the only absolute and perfect rule of faith and practice, and the supreme standard by which all human

conduct, creeds and opinions shall be judged.

2 Timothy 3:16

The Trinity

We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father,
God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. They are equal in essence and execute distinct, but harmonious

offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Ephesian 4:4-5

God the Father

We believe that the Father is God and that He is infinite, personal, eternal, and perfect in holiness,
wisdom, power, and love. He is the Father over all creation. He is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ; and

of all believers in Christ
Galatians 3:26

God the Father

We believe that the Father is God and that He is infinite, personal, eternal, and perfect in holiness,
wisdom, power, and love. He is the Father over all creation. He is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ; and

of all believers in Christ
Galatians 3:26

God the Son

We believe in the absolute deity of Jesus Christ. He is the second person of the Trinity. We believe
that Jesus Christ was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, in the form of a man,

without a sinful nature and without sin.

We believe that He lived a perfect life and that through His vicarious sufferings and perfect sacrifice of
Himself upon the Cross of Calvary, He atoned for our sins. We believe in His substitutionary atoning
death, triumphant resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and

personal visible return to earth.
John 1:1-2; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:21-23; Isaiah 53:4-6

God the Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Godhead, who came forth from the Father and
Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower
all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that

He is an abiding helper, teacher and guide.
John 16:13; Ephesians 5:18; Romans 8:9

Satan

We believe in the distinct personality of the fallen angel, Lucifer, who with his host of angels is at
war with God and man. He is void of truth; he has blinded the eyes of them which believe not; he is in
constant battle against Christians; and that his ultimate end is eternal torment in the Lake of Fire.

Revelation 20:10; Ephesians 6:11-12

Sin

We believe that sin is the transgression of the law of God and the separation of man with His
creator. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated

by the Holy Spirit.
Roman 3:23; John 1:12; Ephesians 1:7

Heaven and Hell

We believe in a literal Heaven that is eternal, incorruptible, and undefiled, and that Jesus Christ is
presently and personally preparing a place reserved exclusively for those who are saved by grace through

faith in Him.
John 14:1-4

We believe in a literal hell of everlasting fire, everlasting punishment, and everlasting destruction
reserved for Satan and his angels and all those who do not believe in Jesus Christ as their personal savior.

Matthew 25:41; Matthew 25:46

The Church

We believe in the universal church, a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head and all

regenerated persons are members.

We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers baptized in the name of the
Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, by observing the ordinances and obeying the principles set forth in
the Word of God: Faithfully awaiting the return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1:22-23; I Corinthians 12:12-14; Eph. 2:19-21

Ordinances

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has instituted only two ordinances for the local church body:
namely, baptism by immersion, which is a testimony of the inward change of regeneration, and the
Lord’s supper, which is a commemoration of His death. These ordinances are to be practiced until the

return of Jesus Christ.

Mark 16:16; Matthew 26:26-29; I Corinthians 11:23-26

Man

We believe that God created man in His image; innocent and right before God. But by voluntary
transgression fell from his sinless state, and as a result of his (Adam’s) sin, the whole human race are
sinners, not only by nature, but also of choice; and therefore under just condemnation without defense or
excuse. Consequently, salvation of the sinner is secured through repentance and faith, whereby the
sinner turns unto God in sincerity and accepts Jesus Christ as an all-sufficient Savior.

Gen. 3:16, 24; Genesis 1:27

Sanctification

All born again believers is called to live a life of holiness. They should make every effort to gain a life

of sanctification.
Hebrews 12:14

Resurrection and Judgment

We believe in the literal resurrection of the body and the final judgement– the just for reward and

endless bliss, the unjust for judgment and eternal suffering.

We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment

of His kingdom

Dan. 12:2; Rev. 20:1-15; Matthew 25:41-46; Jude 1:6, 7

Marriage

A Christian family is one which lines up with biblical principles and one in which each member
understands and fulfills his or her God-given role. The family is not an institution designed by man. It was
created by God. It is for one man and one woman to join in a spiritually and physically committed union
for a lifetime. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God's
image. A husband is to love his wife as Christ loved the church. He has the God-given responsibility to
provide, protect, and to lead his family. A wife is to submit herself graciously to the servant leadership of
her husband even as the church willingly submits to the headship of Christ. She, being in the image of
God as is her husband and thus equal to him, has the God-given responsibility to respect her husband
and to serve as his helper in managing the household and nurturing the next generation... Children, from
the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to
their children God's pattern for marriage. The cultural views of same-sex marriages are not acceptable in
God’s eyes; therefore it is prohibited in GNBC as well. GNBC does not perform any same-sex marriages.

Ephesian 5: 22-26, Proverb 31; Roman 1: 26-27
